Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Silver Eye Award 2011

Since 2009, East Silver has been recognizing the best films of the market with Silver Eye Award. The idea behind the award is to attract attention of industry professionals to new interesting films from Central and Eastern Europe, and to help nominated films to find sales agents, broadcasters and festival releases. In 2012 the Silver Eye Award will be handed out for the fourth time.

In each of the main categories (Short, Mid-length, Feature), East Silver nominates 11 films. The final decision in each category is in the hands of an international jury consisting of industry professionals. The winner in each category receives not only an unique award trophy, but a prize money of 1500 EUR and one-year festival service of the East Silver Caravan.
