SILVER EYE is an award for the best feature, mid and short length documentary of the East Silver Market. Documentaries will be selected from East Silver Market submissions 2010. Selection committee will nominate 11 films in each category. Best films will be awarded by prize money of EUR 1 500 - Best Short Documentary, Best Mid-Length and Best Feature Documentary.
We will address 3 key television buyers, 3 sales agents and VOD representatives along with festival programmers. They will form 3 independent juries that will vote on the awards. Jury members will be able to watch the films in advance, prior to the festival. At the East Silver Market, they will be able to watch the films at the digitized booth that will be reserved for them throughout the market, or at the Silver Eye screenings with other jury members.
We will not officially screen the films within the Jihlava festival program so that the producers can keep their premiere status for IDFA. This proved to be a functional model in 2009, when the winner of the Silver Eye short category, Six Weeks by Marcin Janosz Krawczyk, won also the IDFA short competition. This was possible only because Silver Eye screenings were not festival premiere, but merely market screenings.
In addition to that, SILVER EYE nominees are supported with the year-round festival service, access to the international film markets and international broadcasters.
East Silver Eye winners will be announced at the 7th East Silver Market during the Opening ceremony of the XIV. Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in October 26, 2010. >>>
