Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

East Silver

French co-production breakfast

The first of three breakfasts hosted by East Silver Market focused on the French documentary industry with special guest Catherine Le Clef. As the former head Doc & Co and the current Senior Vice President TV and Ancillary Sales at Fortissimo Films, Catherine has started a new company, CAT&Docs which is dedicated to the promotion and sales of world class documentaries.

The very talented young producer, Cécile Lestrade of Alter Ego Production also attended, along with Benoit Gryspreerdt of French Cuisine Production, producer Marie Clemence Paes of Laterit Productions and Gabriel Chabanier of Galatica Group, a new collective ‘adventure' that compromises ten existing companies who have banded together to produce topic-specific films. All guests shared their international sales expertise and offer advice and opportunities to the East European documentary industry about co-productions, funds and broadcasters in France.
