DOKweb Content
www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

MeetMarket: Take Part in East European Delegation

Let us invite you to take part in the East European delegation at the MeetMarket Sheffield (June 14 - 15, 2012). If you have a documentary, cross-platform or a new media project, MeetMarket is the best place to search for funding.

Please, confirm your attendance by March 10, 2012 at miriam@eastsilver.net.

MeetMarket takes place during Sheffield Doc/Fest (June 13 - 17, 2012) as part of the 5-day networking programme for film professionals from all around the world. You can find new ways of financing (crowd funding, self/hybrid distribution and third sector) and meet the distributors, producers and buyers of old and new genres.

Being a member of the East European delegation does not automatically guarantee selection for MeetMarket – it picks only 65 projects out of 500 submissions. MeetMarket offers around 20 meetings with acknowledged film professionals per project for those selected. In the last year, 217 producers, sales agents, distributors and buyers were on spot. List of professionals confirmed for 2012 edition is being updated here.

Even if your project is not selected for the MeetMarket, there will be a number of other significant networking opportunities, which you can take part at, as a member of East European delegation. To name just a few: “Round Tables”, “Power Pitching”, “Commisioning Panels“, panel discussions, individual meetings and group pitching sessions. IDF will guarantee consultations regarding the prior and during the event.

Here you can find suggestions helpful for your project to be selected. Film professionals will watch your one-minute-long teaser (uploaded via Distrify), read short synopsis, biography and budget. From this, they select which projects they would like to discuss in one-on-one meetings at MeetMarket. Projects can also be in any genre of documentary/factual, from factual entertainment through art/installation documentaries to cross-platform/interactive projects. Interactive factual/documentary; broadband, web-based, mobile phone/mobile device content, cross-platform and convergent media projects are also eligible. Your project may take any form or specialist focus, e.g. feature documentaries, television, series or specialised genres. Natural history, science and arts projects are very welcome. Your project can be at any stage of development, production, or post-production. An administration fee of £20 plus VAT applies per project.

Completed projects – if selected for East Silver Caravan - can be submitted for the pre-selection of the festival and made available to the professionals in the Videotheque.

As a member of East European delegation, Doc Fest Sheffield in co-operation with IDF offer delegate pass for £185 plus VAT; concessions pass: £100 + VAT apply to full time students, senior citizens, claimants. Your proof of concession status must be valid until 18 June 2012.
