Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

ON-LINE EAST SILVER CATALOGUE

The enrollment for the project was possible from March till June 2005. Documentaries  made in last two years on professional film formats, provided with English subtitles entered the project. There were no thematical limitations and no submission fee. Since the project is still expanding and searching for its borders, we decided to submit also several films made in 2003 whose directors discovered East Silver as lately as this year. A few films are included in the East Silver for the second time, as each of them has a new version.

The East Silver on-line catalogue is arranged in alphabetical order according to the participating countries. Films from one country are alphabetized after their English titles.

The printed version of the catalogue will be available during Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. Films from one country are alphabetized after their original title. Appendices according to the English titles, directors and length are also included. The documentaries listed in the catalogue will be at disposal, together with the documentaries from the East Silver 2004,  in the East Silver video library opened during the Jihlava IDFF. The video library with 25 video and DVD players , accessible to film professionals only, will be open daily from 9 am to 12 pm.

We hope the catalogue as well as all the market will be more than useful to the work of professionals from film industry, who are cordially invited to our market in Jihlava.
