Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

EAST SILVER FINAL REPORT

The sixth East Silver, a digitized documentary market dedicated to films from Central and Eastern Europe, opened its film vaults and events to 300 invited film professionals (producers, distributors, broadcasters, festival programmers) and other industry guests. In addition to its film library of more than 400 titles, East Silver also organized meetings with some of Europe's leading documentary producers. More details in the East Silver Final Report.

Digitized East Silver market opened for the 6th time at the 13th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. The market offered 277 titles with the greatest international potential from total of 500 submissions and also 133 films from the festival program. There were 35 computers installed and just like the last year they were always busy.

The printed version of catalogue served as a practical handbook distributed to all professionals for free, was mapping the documentary production and activities realized in the Eastern European region during the last year 2009 (especially the travelling showcase of the East Silver Caravan selection).

The video library was visited by 300 key European and international film professionals: representatives of TV stations, film festivals, media, film institutions and organisations, but also filmmakers, producers, distributors. In comparison with the last year's market (185 professionals though out the whole market) the visits to the library / the markets success grew by 40 percent.
