The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The East Silver Market, a documentary market specialized in Eastern and Central European documentary film, is again open for submissions! Submit your film to the biggest internationally recognized database of creative feature and television documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe.

East Silver is now open twice a year: East Silver Videolibrary will be held within the new East Doc Platform, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) in Prague, Czech Republic, in March, 6 – 11, 2012, in association with the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival. The 9th edition of the East Silver Market will take place at the 16th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in October 23 – 28, 2012, Jihlava, Czech Republic.

 

Don’t let you film grow old! If you submit your documentary before January 10, 2012, your film will be considered for the East Silver Videolibrary, held within East Doc Platform, and may benefit from the following bonuses:


• No administration fee for films included in the East Silver Videolibrary

• Extended online display at East Silver Streaming (from March 2012 to October 2013)

• Possibility for the inclusion in East Silver Caravan and access to international film festivals

• Possibility to be honored with the East Doc Platform Award

• Your submission will remain valid for the 16th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival 2012

 

 

This call is open for completed documentaries produced after January 1, 2011, which were not previously submitted for East Silver market.

Submission Deadline is June 30, 2012. Films submitted before January 10, 2012 will be considered also for East Silver Videolibrary, held within East Doc Platform in March 2012 in Prague.
