The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The 7th East Silver documentary market that specializes in Central and East European documentary film is now open for submissions! Submit your film to the biggest internationally recognized database of creative feature and television documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe. Entry deadline: July 31, 2010.

 

Call for completed documentaries produced 2009 – 2010, English subtitled or with English voiceover, with trailer and documentary projects in development.

Submission deadline is July 31, 2010. Submission is also valid for the Jihlava IDFF programme preselection and Doc Alliance preselection.

EAST SILVER MARKET
East Silver is the only market which supports producers and distributors from Central and East Europe. Each year, about 350 films from more than 29 countries submit to the project and are considered for the market. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Jihlava IDFF and the Institute of Documentary Film. East Silver 2010 and the East European Forum will form the industry section of the 14th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival October 25 ‐ 31, 2010.

ONLINE CATALOGUE AND DATABASE – essential reference guide to Eastern European docs
Printed catalogue distributed to over 500 hundred film professionals is mirrored in form of easy to navigate on‐line database at www.eastsilver.net. Eastern European documentary current production gathered at one place creates searchable up-to-date archive of titles with full film credits and trailers.

EAST SILVER TV FOCUS ‐ designed to enhance and increase documentary TV broadcast
We aim to widen the chances for TV broadcast of documentary films from our region. So in addition to our activities, we are now launching new service for producers, international documentary networks and TV buyers. Gaining substantial knowledge of broadcaster’s slots and also current programming needs, we individually select and recommend particular documentaries directly to the international TV stations and networks. With personal approach we make individual selection and recommend particular film titles from our large database, custom made to fit the TV slot, or to the actual needs of current programming.

EAST SILVER CARAVAN ‐ supporting tool for festival and market screenings of documentaries
East Silver Caravan promotes East European documentary films at the most important international documentary film festivals and markets each year. Travelling showcase of Eastern European documentary can be encountered at the most prestigious international film festivals and markets.

SILVER EYE
Silver Eye is an award for the best documentary of the East Silver Market 2010. Documentaries will be selected from East Silver Market submissions 2010. Selection committee will nominate 11 films in each category (feature, mid and short length). Best films in every category will be awarded by prize money of EUR 1 500.
