www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The first Doc Market specialised on the documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe will include films from Austria, Armenia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Estonia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Slovenia, the Ukraine, Belorussia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Lithuania, Turkey and Georgia. This year also the special guest selection of the best German documentary films is prepared in cooperation with Leipzig Doc Festival.

Some of the films will be also screened during the Jihlava documentary film festival 2006.

VIDEO LIBRARY:
The East Silver videolibrary will offer over 700 documentary films of all categories, including also last year editions of the project and it provides 25 DVD and video players.

EAST SILVER CARAVAN:
The important part  of  the project is East Silver Caravan, which is travelling showcase, presenting a selection of documentaries at major international film festivals – Berlinale Berlin Film Festival, Germany; Visions du Réel, Nyon, France; Crossing Europe Festival of European Film Linz, Austria; Hot Docs International Canadian Documentary Film Festival; Discop, television content and formats market, Budapest, Hungary; Cracow Film Festival, Poland; Sunny Side of the Docs, Marseille, France; FID Marseille, France; Silver Docs Film Festival, Washington, USA; Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival, Great Britain; International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films, Germany; IDFA, Amsterdam, Netherlands

SUBMITTED FILMS:
344 Central and East European documentary films have enrolled for the project in 2006: 45 films from Austria, 75 from the Czech Republic, 17 from Croatia, 10 from Estonia, 27 from Hungary, 9 from Latvia, 47 from Poland, 10 from Serbia and Montenegro, 5 from Romania, 20 from Russia, 9 from Slovenia, 22 from Slovakia  plus several more from Albania, Armenia, Belorussia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. This year the special Guest section of 21 German films is prepared in cooperation with DOK Leipzig International Film Festival. The East Silver videolibrary will offer over 1000 documentary films of all themes and styles from this and last year’s editions of the project.

ORGANIZERS:
East Silver is organized in cooperation with the Institute of Documentary Film at Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. Together with the East European Pitching Forum, which provides a meeting point for East European filmmakers and the representatives of West European TV networks, East Silver is a unique connection spot of all documentary film professionals from Western and Eastern Europe. 
East Silver supports and promotes Central and East European documentary filmmaking. A singular project of its kind in Eastern Europe, East Silver functions as a meeting point of European film professionals (programme directors, commissioning editors, buyers and distributors etc.) and filmmakers and allows the exchange of professional experience.
