15029 Tallinn The public television station ETV operates under the Broadcasting Act passed in 1994. Estonian Television is financed wholly from the state budget, and has been entirely free of commercials since July 1st, 2002. In 2007, ETV merged with the Estonian Radio Service (ER) to form the Estonian Public Broadcasting or Eesti Rahvusringhääling, ERR. So far, ETV has been broadcasting under its original name.
Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) – Estonian Public Broadcasting is a publicly funded radio and television organization created in Estonia on 1 June 2007 to take over the functions of the formerly separate Eesti Raadio (Estonian Radio) and Eesti Televisioon (Estonian Television). ETV was created in 1955 and is mainly focusing on news and entertainment, competes for wide audience. ETV 2, digital channel, was created in 2008 to broadcast Russian language programs and programs for children. From 2009 Autumn, it is also broadcasting documentaries.
