Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

East Silver TV Focus 2008

East Silver TV Focus is part of the East Silver project, which should support international broadcasting of selected documentary films from the region of Eastern Europe. Documentaries are recommended to TV buyers for their slots in order to increase chances to be broadcasted.

East Silver TV Focus has been launched for the first time in 2008 and approached five TV stations with selected titles (the number of TV broadcasters increase to 44 TV stations in 2010).

Apart from the recommendation system targeted directly on particular TV buyers, East Silver TV Focus operates on several important TV content events: MIPTV in Cannes, DISCOP EAST in Budapest; or other important documentary markets such as IDFA’s Docs for Sale, Hot Docs’ Doc Shop, DocOutlook at Visions du réel in Nyon, DOK Market at DOK Leipzig and many others.
