East Silver
Central and East European documentary film may at first glance look as an uncharted territory with several extraordinary titles and filmmakers. However, a closer look will reveal that documentary cinema in the region is thriving, as evidenced by documentary films in Poland, Romania or in Estonia. East Silver’s goal is to support and promote documentaries from the region around the world. One of the tools in use is East Silver Caravan – a selection of some of the most interesting films from the market with high festival potential. Each year, a selection of approx. 30 films is submitted to international film festivals for programme preselection. Thanks to a wide and growing network of East Silver partner festivals, the chances of Caravan films to get screened at festivals are increasing (at the moment East Silver Caravan travels to more than 80 international film festivals).
The East Silver Caravan works well not only for films, but also for festival programmers as a tool of reference for East European documentaries, since we can help and recommend films on various topics as well. With recently introduced online videolibrary is even more easier to recommend films to festival programmers with interest in Central and East European documentary films.
The East Silver Caravan had several major accomplishments last year, such as the Czech documentary Alda by Viera Cakanyova in competition at IDFF Flahertiana, Russia and 7th IDFF Taiwan or a screening of selected films at festivals in USA (Arsy-Versy at SXSW – South by Southwest or War Games and Village Without Women at Cinequest and many others).
