www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

East Silver

East Silver 2006

East Silver is the first documentary film market specialised in the documentary films from Eastern Europe covering more than 26 countries. This year the special guest selection of the best German documentary films was prepared in cooperation with DOK Leipzig festival.

Some of the films were screened during the Jihlava documentary film festival 2006. 

VIDEO LIBRARY
The East Silver videolibrary offered over 700 documentary films of all categories, including also previous editions of the market and it provided 25 DVD and video players.

EAST SILVER CARAVAN
The important part  of  the project is East Silver Caravan, which is travelling showcase, presenting a selection of documentaries at major international film festivals – Berlinale Berlin Film Festival, Germany; Visions du Réel, Nyon, France; Crossing Europe Festival of European Film Linz, Austria; Hot Docs International Canadian Documentary Film Festival; Discop East, television content and formats market, Budapest, Hungary; Cracow Film Festival, Poland; Sunny Side of the Docs, Marseille, France; FID Marseille, France; Silver Docs Film Festival, Washington, USA; Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival, United Kingdom; DOK Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films, Germany; IDFA, Amsterdam, Netherlands

SUBMITTED FILMS
336 Central and East European documentary films were presented in 2006: 45 films from Austria, 75 from the Czech Republic, 17 from Croatia, 10 from Estonia, 27 from Hungary, 9 from Latvia, 47 from Poland, 10 from Serbia and Montenegro, 5 from Romania, 20 from Russia, 9 from Slovenia, 22 from Slovakia plus several more from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The East Silver videolibrary will offer more than 700 documentary films of all themes and styles from this and last year’s editions of the project.

ORGANIZERS
East Silver is organized in cooperation with the Institute of Documentary Film and takes place at Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. Together with the East European Pitching Forum, which provides a meeting point for East European filmmakers and the representatives of West European TV networks, East Silver is a unique connection spot of all documentary film professionals from Western and Eastern Europe.

East Silver supports and promotes Central and East European documentary filmmaking. A singular project of its kind in Eastern Europe, East Silver brings together European film professionals and filmmakers and allows the exchange of professional experience.
