Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

East Silver

East Silver 2006

EAST SILVER, which maps out the Central and Eastern European documentaries produced during the last two years, creates the catalogue and an video library, which is presented to the broadest spectrum of film professionals – to TV channels representatives, film festivals as well as to film producers and co-producers.

The 3rd issue of East Silver market offered the chance for producers and filmmakers to promote their films internationally through the:

  • catalogue
  • video library
  • specialized on-line database at www.eastsilver.net
  • travelling showcase East Silver Caravan which presents a special selection of the East Silver documentaries at the international festivals and markets.

Each year East Silver gathers key European buyers, distributors and broadcasters and European festival programme directors and aquisitors. East Silver creates an easy accessible platform where both film professionals and filmmakers can meet and share their experiences.

This market allows access to documentary films from the region that are difficult to find. East Silver aims to present a broad spectrum of Central and Eastern European documentary film production in 2005-2006.

The East Silver project is organized in cooperation with the Institute of Documentary Film at Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival.

Dates:
The East Silver Market was open from October 25 to 29, 2006 as part of the section for industry professionals at the 10th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival.
